And to All a Goodnight

Merry Christmas everyone!! I am celebrating in central Wisconsin, where it is currently -1 degrees out (and I wouldn't have it any other way). I am so glad that I was able to come up and visit with so many friends and family. Andrew, this is one of the best gifts ever! I took lots of pictures, but I did not bring our picture downloading devices along, so...... pictures to follow. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and remember, if it's not White, you're missing out!

What a Week

We've been on vacation but are now back home. Naturally, one of the first things I wanted to do was start on the heaping piles of laundry. My darling husband left a PACK of gum in his pants pocket on the first (and only) batch of clothes I did. Unfortunately, I did not notice it until the dryer buzzer went off. I called him and told him he was "dead meat" and then started to clean. My house now has the ever so lovely aroma of lighter fluid. Most of the clothes had to be thrown out, but some were saved. Andrew took on the worst job; cleaning the dryer. The gum was everywhere. No elk to speak of, but I got in on some major shopping deals!

Well it's not Turkey

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed our weekend with everyone here. Andrew was working night shifts for the first part so Sandee and Rulin stayed up late with me one night and helped put a new floor in on our kitchen, dining room, entry way, and bathroom. Andrew was pretty surprised when he came home. And when I say that Sandee and Rulin "helped" they really did all the hard work- Thanks again you guys! We did have Mexican food on Thanksgiving but Karen was reprieved when she served turkey on Saturday.

Did you see the turdy pointer?

As it is opening weekend back in Wisconsin, good luck to all the deer hunters out there. And good luck to our elk hunters here, although that season does not open for a few more weeks. Don't these guys look good in blaze orange? I am suddenly hungry for venison.

The Dancing Dog

Here he is............ Sir Duke! Or maybe he's the lady, cause Andrew looks like he is in the lead. Duke was seriously embarassed in this sweater. I was trying to get pictures of just him, but he kept following Andrew around, trying to hide. The next morning, I had to call him to come out for breakfast. He tried to "hide" in his dog house and just poke his head out. I feel bad because he seems cold, but I'd rather not "embarass" him, so no more sweater for now.

Done done

We painted the desks and put most of our things away. Here is an up-to-date picture on our progress. We want to say thanks to Michael again for coming here and helping us! And thanks to Andrew for all of his hard work. You can't see it, but (among several other things) he installed LED lights on the bottom of the bookcases so we have the ability to work through the night in our office. One more thing; Andrew, if you are wondering where all of your junk went that was sitting on top of your desk, its in the drawer. Love, The Maid.

Snoopy Dog

It has been getting cold out at night (relatively cold, for all you in Wisconsin sniggering at that comment) so I decided to give Duke another blanket. We like to mess with him, so I threw the blanket over him, covering his giant head. He quickly got the blanket off his head, then just ran around with it dragging behind him. I thought it was so funny, I brought him inside and took a few pictures. Karen recently made him a sweater... Pictures to follow.

Whoops-a-daisy

I was planning on going to the Halloween Party as a D-backs fan, but when I got dressed I realized my D-backs shirt was way too short (it was almost a belly shirt). This story goes back a bit, allow me to explain. Andrew and I went to a Diamondbacks game this summer and before we went to the park we decided to get something to eat. We stopped at Arbys and naturally I dropped food on my white shirt (a family trait I inherited from my father). So when we got to the game, we went to a shop and I found a D-backs shirt for $7.00. Thinking I was going to have to spend much more than that, I bought the shirt, but when I changed into it I realized it was really really long. When we returned home, I took the shirt to my seamstress (Karen) and asked her to make it shorter. She had me put a mark on the shirt where I wanted it to be cut. I guess I put that mark up too high cause the shirt's too short. So my AMAZING husband, upon seeing my dilemma, offers me his Indiana sweatshirt. Thus I went to the Halloween Party as a Hoosiers fan. (My costume was extremely complex; consisting of a sweatshirt and red hair spray on one pigtail.)

Carter, Claire, & Dudley

Happy Halloween!! Andrew sees no point to Halloween. He is a big grouch and refuses to dress up. I will be going to the Trunk- or- Treat as a Diamondbacks Fan. Andrew will be going as Andy from Raggedy Ann and Andy. Seriously though, Andrew won't be going at all. He conveniently found a shift at work that just needed to be covered and signed up. I love pumpkins, so Amanda and I bought some and Karen, Amanda, and I colored them. Their names are Carter (Karen), Claire (me), and Dudley (Amanda). You can't see it very well in this pic, but Carter's smile actually reads "Happy Halloween." Boy, that Karen is talented.

And you have won..... A NEW CAR!

Ok, ok, we didn't win it. But we said goodbye to the old Pacifica today and got a new Impala. (Well it's new to us.) If Andrew would have gotten his way on this, I'd be driving around a Cadillac. He seriously wanted one. I think it was just so he could call his car "Caddy." I may have missed something here: are we retired? checking...checking... No. Ok, so no Caddy.

An Intruder

A few weeks back, Andrew and I were chillin in our living room and we heard our dog start barking. We both got up right away because Duke NEVER barks and we went to the back door. This friendly little guy was right next to our door. (I forgot Andrew took a pic of this or I would have posted earlier.) What a smart puppy we have! He knows when to alarm us of real danger. Of course if perfect strangers come up to our gate, he lets them walk right in without so much as a peep out of him.

Happy Birthday!!!

Hi Jacob- Happy 8th Birthday! We are so excited for you, it's a big one! Congratulations!

Hey Buddy

This week Andrew and I drove to Flagstaff to visit Emilee and Colt. We had a really nice time, but the best part by far is the kick Andrew gets from Sarah calling Andrew "Buddy". She was never asked to do this, but Andrew says Buddy a lot, so I guess Sarah figured that was his name. Anyway, it is super cute. Thanks for letting us visit- we had a great time!

After

It's done! Well... nearly. All we have to do is paint, so for those of you who don't know us too well, it will be done within the next two months, probably. It always amazes me how fast Michael works. This was done over the weekend, to be more specific, in about 5-6 hours. We want to give a shout out to Andrew's brothers; Charlie and James, and especially Michael. Thank you so much! We also want to thank Michael's family for letting us steal him for the weekend! On a side note: Don't worry, the guys were able to fit in 2 rounds of golf this weekend as well.

Before

Michael is coming!!!! For those of you who don't know, Michael is Andrew's oldest brother and he has mad construction skills. Exibit A: Our kitchen. Anyway, this time Michael is coming to build us a desk for our office space. Of course, the guys will find time to fit in a few rounds of golf. Pictured here is the "Before Shot" or as I like to call it, Michael's blank canvas.

Hi-Def

It's official, we're in hi-def. Yesterday, Andrew and I ditched the cable company and subscribed to Direct TV. I had the best time last year making fun of my brother, Chris (pictured here), when we were visiting and he was showing us his "hi-def". He kept flipping between two channels, one in hi-def and one not. I kept saying (on purpose) that I could clearly see a difference and that the one not in hi-def was a much better picture. He spent the next 5 minutes showing me the difference, wanting me to see. It was for that reason, I thought it was so funny when the guy hooking up the direct tv kept flipping back and forth between "regular" ESPN and ESPN in hi-def. He was a lot more impressed with it than we were. Anyway, feel free to come by and check it out! It might blow your mind.

PG-13???

If this is PG-13, I wish I was 12. What's up with the nudity and bad language in PG-13 movies? I thought they were safe. Anyway, here's one of my favorite websites: www.screenit.com Scroll all the way to the bottom and then click "No Thanks" to enter the website. This will let you read all about any movie before you watch it. They are very specific about what you will see and hear. Use it. Love it. Now, chip-chop-chip!

The Girly Quilt

One of my old friends just had her 6th baby. Well, she's not that old, but I have known her for a few years. :) She had 5 boys and this was her first girl. I enlisted Andrew's mom's help, and let's face it, she did all the work. I love the quilt and just sent it off yesterday. Thank you, mom!!

Welcome to the Jungle.... or Desert

Hello Friends, family, and fans,

We are the Hughes'. We live in Morenci, AZ and halfway enjoy it. (Andrew does and I don't so much- not a fan of the high temps.) We have been married for 5 years this December. We have been in Morenci for 2 years now, the longest we have stayed in any location. Andrew loves his job and so do I, or rather the lack thereof. We love to travel and visit our families and friends. My favorite vacation spot is Copper Lake, WI, Andrew's is any golf course, anywhere with decent weather.
